Room acoustics — measurement & design
The wrong treatment in the wrong places is a common and expensive mistake. This service exists to prevent that. Most rooms used for music — rehearsal spaces, home studios, listening rooms, small live rooms — have acoustic problems that can be measured, understood, and substantially improved with the right treatment in the right places.
I do measurement and design only — specification, acoustic calculation, and a treatment plan you or your contractor can execute. I don't take on construction, painting, or finishing work.
- /01 In-room acoustic measurement using calibrated microphones and standard measurement software
- /02 Modal analysis — identifying the specific low-frequency resonances causing problems in your room
- /03 Porous absorber design and specification, including material selection, thickness, and placement
- /04 Diffuser specification where appropriate
- /05 Reflection and early-decay management for critical listening or recording positions
- /06 A written report with measurements, recommendations, and a bill of materials you can hand to any competent builder
- /07 Optional verification measurement after treatment is installed
One measurement visit, one design and specification pass, and — if you want it — a verification visit after the treatment is in place. Most rooms can be assessed and specified in one to two weeks of part-time work. Remote follow-up is included.
- /T01 You've built or are building a rehearsal room, home studio, or listening room and want it done properly
- /T02 You have a room that sounds wrong and you want to know why before spending money on treatment
- /T03 You've already installed treatment and aren't sure whether it's working
- /T04 You're planning treatment and want a specification that isn't driven by what one acoustic-panel retailer happens to sell
